I started watching Vanilla Ice goes Amish and am pleasantly surprised. I realize it is TV but I have to say I am laughing at Rob, he is actually very funny. The older gentleman that he is staying with and working for is so adorably sweet and the guys who work for him are just as funny as can be. How refreshing to see something that is not full of swearing, sex, violence etc. The craftsmanship the Amish create is so beyond amazing, they remodeled a ladies kitchen and you would never know there was no power or running water to this place. It was the most beautiful kitchen I have ever seen. I know there are flaws so to speak in some of the Amish beliefs but they give when they have nothing to give, they are there for their neighbors, they are loyal and hard working and we could sure take a page from their book.
I am still not feeling up to exercising, had to go back for another breathing treatment and leave work early, will miss tomorrow per my doctor. I hate taking time away from work when we are working on projects, as is my way, I feel guilty doing it. That said I know I will not get better if I do not and I am trying to avoid pneumonia at this point. I went to my weekly lunch with my buddy and had soup and salad. I knew I was not going to be up to picture taking today so that is one of my photos.
On the way home from the doctor I had to stop for the stoplight. I have lived here for 15 years now and have passed this patch of property, it is surrounded by busy main streets. It was one of the last areas of green beauty that was not developed. Every time I drive by I would be so happy that is was this little oasis in the midst of all the stores etc. Sadly today I noticed there is a for sale sign. This picture does not do it justice at all, this is a huge chunk of green lush grass and beautiful trees that go all the way up the street I am about to turn on and looks so serene. I am so sad to see it being sold and to know it will likely become an apartment or store front. I wish I had the money to buy it, I would leave it as is… A park would be lovely but as we all know in the Portland area there are no such things as beautiful areas, they are all becoming some sort of business…
I have been kind of derelict in my posts because I am just tired but today wanted to share some of the feel good stories I have read. My friend said she wished they would do even a half hour news show of nothing but good and positive stories, that it would help heal some of the anger and hatred people are feeling now. We are surrounded with so much hate and distrust. I made it a mission today to find a few… hope you enjoy them.
Pain is universal and so is kindness. Kindness is contagious. Kindness dissolves anger, rage, and violence. Even when kindness is beaten down, it finds a way to prevail. All we have to do is look for it.
